About the event

Stories can awaken insight, enlighten mind and quicken spirit. In this small group, we will read Wouldn't Take Nothing for My Journey Now by May Angelou. Both the chosen book and the group sessions are designed to engage the head and the heart, open us to magic and possibility, awaken wonder and transformation.

From the Publisher: "May Angelou, one of the best-loved authors of our time, shares the wisdom of a remarkable life in her best-selling spiritual classic. This is Maya Angelou talking from the heart, down to earth and real, but also inspiring. This is a book to treasured, a book about being in all ways a woman, about living well, about the power of the word, and about the power do spirituality to move and shape your life. Passionate, lively, and lyrical, Maya Angelou's latest unforgettable work offers a gem of truth on every page."

We will meet the 2nd and 4th Sundays at 7 pm, for four sessions, January 14 through February 25, 2024, reading a portion of the book for each session's discussion.

This small group is presented in partnership with GTUx, a Community of Learners That Believes in a Better World, part of the Graduate Theological Union in Berkely, California.

The group sessions will be facilitated by Robert Bowler (Beau), Founding Director and Director of Spirituality Programs of Halcyon Arts New England. He managed Stone Church Arts, a concert series focused on world music from 2006 - 2020. He was also the Director of Stone Church Center, a retreat and conference center in Bellows Falls, Vermont. He majored in Religious Studies at Reed College with a focus on the western mystical tradition.
